Benjamin Alborough is a comedy writer/ performer with a background.
For his work he has received multiple 4 and 5 star reviews, been featured in the Guardian, his jokes picked for The Telegraph’s Top Jokes of the Fringe and his debut hour was one of British Comedy Guide’s 2023 picks.

He got his start in 2017 with his original comedy play Cream Tea and Incest, which had two sell out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe before transferring to London’s Hope Theatre, bookended by a Polish tour. His critically acclaimed 2019 followup, Ricky Riddlegang and the Riddlegang, played at the Gilded Balloon in 2019.
Over lockdown, he collaborated with regular collaborator Adam Larter on a script commission from Channel 4 for develop their original nautical sitcom, The Harbourmaster. The show is currently in development with Adorable Media. For more details on Ben’s other writing projects, please click here.
He also began twitch streaming over lockdown with comedian Sean Morley. With Sean he also co-hosts streams and runs an alternative comedy Eurovision every year called Morlvision. Clips here.
In 2022 he debuted his comedy hour, Absolute Monopoly, at the Leicester Comedy Festival’s Weirdos Weekend before having a short WIP run at the Gilded Balloon during the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe. After a season of 2023 previews around the country, including at the ‘Weekend of Weird’ at the Brighton Spiegeltent (which he programmed and promoted) Absolute Monopoly opened as part of Assembly Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe 2023, where it sold out and received rave reviews.
In July 2023 he collaborated again with Sean Morley to develop a new live comedy film called ‘Terry Wogan Screams’, which was filmed with GoFasterStripe at MOTH Club after a successful run at Vault Festival.
In 2024, after touring briefly with Virgin Voyages, Benjamin returned to Edinburgh with a sell-out run of Absolute Monopoly, along with Late Night with Terry Wogan, a chaotic mixed bill in Assembly Studio One with a live band. He also programmed and promoted the Bedlam Late programme, testing out experimental new formats and performing alongside Edinburgh’s best comedy talent.
He is a member of the Weirdos comedy collective, a regular collaborator with Piñata and, with Objectively Funny‘s Ellie BW, runs his own comedy promotion company called Liebenspiel.
